Be My Butternut

Be my Butternut
Oh would you be my butternut
And can I have another cup of your love?
And if you’ll be my sweet chickpea
Then we might make the spiciest of all the meals
Oh would you be my honey pie?
It doesn’t always make sense
(Why?) we’ve got the right ingredients
Oh would you be my honey pie?
Oh would you be my honey pie?
Your butter, your flour your pastry your fillin’
Just add another cup of your sugar
And we could make sweet sweet love in the kitchen
Oh would you be my honey pie?
It doesn’t always make sense
(Why?) we’ve got the right ingredients
Oh would you be my butternut
And can I have another cup of your love?

La Baie Georgienne

La Baie Georgienne
The sun shines down through the carolinian canopy
The tinted sunlight brightens the way I see
The yellows and reds on a Thanksgiving weekend
The gentle wind brings the rolling waves to my bare feet
Our sails catch the breeze as we come about and trade our seats
The deep blue sky descends into the Baie Georgienne
The soil beneath our feet
Does not travel too deep
And from the limestone cracks
I can hear you speak
Your waters whipser then they flow clearly
The milky way spans far from this small island
The shapes of puzzle pieces drift across the night sky then
Set down in our dreams and our minds can rest at ease

Big Old Oak Tree

Big Old Oak Tree
Big old oak tree, why’d have to you lay down and die?
Big old oak tree, I feared there’d come a time.
The shade you gave us now has gone and that I cannot deny.
But your roots still run deep
Long since your branches have gone
Acorns you scattered now have grown
Your roots have kept our soil strong, big old oak tree.
Big old boulder, why’d you have to go and keel over?
Big old boulder, where am I gonna rest my shoulder?
Now that you have gone and crumbled, I will have to find some closure.
Well the wind it, whips, the water wears
So cruel is every element
Yes you were like a rock
But time does not relent, big old boulder.
Big old oak tree, seems tall trees are layin’ down
Big old oak tree, we thought you’d always be around
All that you were is up to us to raise from the gound.

Crabapple Tree
Zoe, you are a good girl please don’t leave.
The sun is high and I don’t want to say goodbye
So you will lie in the fronyard
Under the crabapple tree
Your family will remember the sound of your voice when you spoke
But you wouldn’t ever come home when we called you
Zoe, you were a good girl but you had to leave
The sun was high and it was time to say goodbye
But you’ll always lie in the front yard
Under the crabapple tree
With your family
In our memory

Green Lantern
Let’s get lit up at the Green Lantern
Have another Jar
Let’s get lit up at the Green Lantern
A beacon in the dark.
Bootleg boys are on the boat
They head towards the old green glow.
They cross the lake, and climb the cliff
This ain’t no time for temperance.
Open up and down the hatch
They say we’re gonna like this batch.
Just don’t tell little Mel
Tonight we’re gonna raise some hell.
They can try to keep us dry
Ain’t gonna work, I’ll tell you why
Folks ‘round here, one and all
We gots to have our alcohol.

Cold Wood Floor
I breathe in the cold air and I sigh
The trees are all turning to fire
I put my feet on the cold wooden floor
And I know that we’ll be alright
I’ll wear your scarf and you take my sweater
We could go out, it’s apple picking weather
Take off your socks, feel this cold wooden floor
Before we have to go
Autumn changed everything, the sound of the seasons changing
And regaining our resolve
Soon snow will cover the leaves in the park
And I will awake in the dark
It may seem familiar, this cold wood floor
So I will remember the fall.

Mountain Song

Mountain Song
The mountain called me by the name
“Just a little longer, just a little higher,” she sang.
I was short of breath, my back was in pain.
But all I could hear was that sweet refrain,
She sang:
”Keep climbing on.
Forget all the rest, just listen to my song.
Keep climbing on.”
And I was drawn to her voice though I knew it was wrong.
But the mountain kept on singing all the same:
“Step up, step lighter, step after step, don’t delay.”
I had come so far, there was no turning back, no way.
Just me, you and the mountain and I could not resist her refrain.
She sang:
”Keep climbing on.
Forget all the rest, just listen to my song.
Keep climbing on.”
And I was drawn to her voice though I knew it was wrong.
The hardest thing I had to do
To tune out that mountain so I could hear you.
But from now on I’ll be drawn to your voice cause I know it’s the right choice.

Rouge River Blues
Rouge River blues
Beavers and canoes
Honey give me a peak
Just hike up your Petticoat Creek
Rouge River maiden
Forget that Frenchman’s Bay man
Baby, I’ll row your boat
Just hike up your Petticoat Creek
I can’t take it any longer
Show me your body of water
Rouge River blues
Beavers and canoes
Honey give me a peak
Just hike up your Petticoat Creek

Radiant Lake

Radiant Lake
The summer can’t last forever
But what if it could, would I feel any better?the
On a soft bed of rocks I can comfortably lie.
And look up at the clouds as they pass me by.
Oh Radiant Lake give me one more day
To savour late summer’s delight
Oh Radiant Lake just one more day
Then I’ll be on my way
I waited so long for the summer to glow
So quickly the green burned to brown
I foud this spot on my soft bed of rocks
But should I have even laid down?
Chorus
There’s no denying a chill in the air
Yet with a chill comes a fire
I’ve laid here so long on my soft bed of rocks
That even from rest I am tired.
Chorus
Oh Radiant Lake just one more day
Then I’ll be on my way

Drive into the Sun
04:01
|

Drive into the Sun
The red and white light in the twighlight, a patriotic glow
But these citizens all drive too slow.
The sun explodes on the horizon and a warm feeling grows
And these eyes are tempted by the visor
But I leave it up and drive
Drive straight into the sun once again
Twice a day, get aways from the wheels spinning
The horizon unwinds as the dotted white lines take me straight to the sun
Someone had the bright idea to save the daylight
But for me it never works out right
Though it’s light the sun gets heavy on the road into the night
And these eyes are tempted by the visor
But I leave it up and drive
Chorus
Drive straight into the sun
A warm feeling grows
Down to the bone
I feel it grow
Chorus

Mars Shadow

Mars Shadow
We paddled in not knowing what might begin
In a tent on an island we settled in
A nice spot to stay as our fire crackled away
What was perfect that day would soon go away
But we knew that you’d have to go
But we didn’t know about that funny red glow
And our Mars Shadow
With no moon in sight the planet provided the light
Our shadows that night made everything right
But soon came the day the red turned to grey
I had to stay and you went away
Chorus
